The fire started around 10:08 a.m., Sunday, Jan. 24, at 61 Henry Ave., in Stratford, said Stratford Assistant Fire Chief Robert Daniel.
First arriving firefighters found smoke visible coming from a third-floor bedroom window of the two-family home, Daniel said.
The fire was contained to the room of origin and was under control in 15 minutes.
Bridgeport and Milford Fire departments provided station coverage during the incident.
The 21-year-old woman and 2-month-old infant were transported to Bridgeport Hospital to be evaluated for smoke inhalation, Daniel said.
"The American Red Cross is assisting the family of five as the second-floor apartment is not habitable at this time," he added.
The origin and cause of this fire are under investigation by the Stratford Fire Marshal’s office.
